Unearth Amadeo Morelos’ mythological beasts

Amadeo Morelos

Online Exhibition

31st March – 11th April

Amadeo Morelos’ new body of work presents an elaborate world that captures the viewer through close-cropped perspectives that display whimsical interactions between the protagonists. In a continuation of the thematics explored in his solo exhibition at Unit London, titled Providence(2021), this series similarly features subjects in conflict with their natural surroundings.

This series reflects the narrative of ‘The Choice of Hercules’, suggesting parallels between a hero and everyman, as each viewer undoubtedly relates to the hero’s plight of overcoming obstacles while choosing a more righteous path.

Born in Morelia, México (1992), Amadeo Morelos is a multidisciplinary artist, with an emphasis on painting and drawing.Solos and group shows include PLHK (Chicago, IL), Comfort Station (Chicago, IL), The Chicago Show (Brooklyn, NY), Heaven Gallery (Chicago, IL) y Palacio Clavijero (Morelia, Mexico). His work has been published in New American Paintings, ArtMaze, The Chicago Times, etc.

Platform engages with topical cultural and socio-political issues by inviting artists to survey and explore some of the critical concepts that underpin their work. 10% of sales proceeds from each exhibition are donated to a charity of the artists’ choosing. Amadeo’s chosen charity is Forests For Monarchs.

Forests for Monarchs have initiated a program, called ‘La Cruz Habitat Protection Project’, that reforests land in and around the mountains of Michoacán (Mexico), supporting the long-term survival of the monarch butterfly.
