Christie’s has led the international market for Post-War and Contemporary Art market over the last decade, including holding consistent international market share every year since 2010. Our most recent 2016 sales achieved a global total over £871 million, for a 53% share of the market against our nearest competitor.

Our biannual sales in London, New York and Paris celebrate some of the leading masters active from 1945 to 1970, including Mark Rothko, Andy Warhol, Francis Bacon and Louise Bourgeois, as well as contemporary luminaries such as Peter Doig, Jeff Koons and Gerhard Richter.

Christie’s is also dedicated to showcasing works by emerging artists in our First Open sales, which attract new and seasoned collectors alike. In addition to auctions, Christie’s Post-War and Contemporary Art department organises selling exhibitions and private sales of fine paintings, drawings, photographs and installations by a wide range of artists and schools from early Abstract Expressionism through to the present day.
