“Next Generation 2017: Geological Territories”.

https://vimeo.com/233291780

As part of a yearly collaboration with the London College of Communication, Aesthetica presents an exciting list of emerging artists who utilise photography as a medium through which to highlight, accentuate and solidify the transient intimacy of human nature.

Cameron Williamson plays with proximity through the use of moving image, text and photographs, to allow for an orientation and subsequent image territory to form out of a spatial inquiry. Through the photographic investigation, processes of the human and landscape are pulled apart into processes of flow, stillness and silence. This causes a vulnerability in the subsequent material by placing equal importance on the human, geological and ideological forms of mark making that the individual is actively territorialised within, as well as drawing new lines of relation between the different bodies. With these a further line of inquiry is posed, as a way of considering the importance of desire for both recognition and misrecognition, and their implications in relation to photography and power.
