Reflecting the World.

The Sony World Photography Awards collate thousands of remarkable images that uncover the secrets of humanity through countless pairs of eyes. With an unprecedented level of entries – over 122,000 from 170 countries – the photographs address a range of topics, recalling economic, political and luxurious happenings involving a variety of places and social groups, from as many angles as possible. Documenting struggles and successes across the globe, the works record a variety of perspectives, indicating pressing problems while still glorifying the impressive landscapes, extravagant colours and stunning shapes evident in the everyday. The photographs are separated into 25 categories, including fashion, travel, wildlife, landscape, portraiture and current affairs, and include pieces from established and emerging talent. The following images are from the 2013 Sony World Photography Awards, curated by Michael Benson, which will be on display at Somerset House.
